Apopka Youth Fire Camp

 A one week camp for ages 8 to 13 to learn about the world of fire safety.

About our 2022 Apopka Youth Fire Camp

Experience a week of hands-on activities and exercises that will expose kids to the world of fire safety promoting team building, volunteerism, and leadership. We put the fun in learning while challenging them both physically and mentally. Participants will enjoy a behind the scenes look at fire and emergency medical services, while getting an opportunity to explore possible career choices. 

2022 Youth Fire Camp Details

Our camp is held at the Leroy F. Gilliam Training Center (321 E. Cleveland Street, Apopka, FL 32703) Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM. 

Camp One Youth Fire Camp for Ages 8 to 10

  • Mandatory Orientation Meeting is Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 6:30 PM at the Gilliam Training Center (For all four fire camps)
  • Dates: Monday, June 6 to Friday, June 10, 2022

Camp Two Youth Fire Camp for Ages 11 to 13

  • Mandatory Orientation Meeting is Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 6:30 PM at the Gilliam Training Center (For all four fire camps)
  • Dates: Monday, June 13 to Friday, June 17, 2022

Camp Three Youth Fire Camp for Ages 8 to 10

  • Mandatory Orientation Meeting is Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 6:30 PM at the Gilliam Training Center (For all four fire camps)
  • Dates: Monday, June 20 to Friday, June 24, 2022

Camp Four Youth Fire Camp for Ages 11 to 13

  • Mandatory Orientation Meeting is Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 6:30 PM at the Gilliam Training Center (For all four fire camps)
  • Dates: Monday, June 27 to Friday, July 1, 2022

Cost for Camp

Camp is $80 per participant. This includes all camp activities, lunch and afternoon snack, and a t-shirt.

Apopka Public Safety Academy

Two week academy for high schoolers interested in Law Enforcement or Firefighting/EMS/Paramedic as a future profession.

Information for the 2022 Youth Public Safety Academy

Does your child have an interest in Law Enforcement or Firefighting/EMS/Paramedic as a career?  Have them come experience what it is like by learning from Apopka's finest first responders. As a student, they will learn all aspects of police and fire services. They will have hands on experience by participating in daily physical conditioning, scenarios, and field trips. 

Included topics include: SWAT, Fire Suppression, Crime Scene Investigations, Vehicle Extractions, Police K9, Jail Tour, High Angle Rescues, and much more! 

Note about this Camp:

This program is intended to give local youth who are interested in Public Safety a better understanding of Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services in our community, while getting an opportunity to explore possible career choices. Due to the popular demand for this program, we ask that families who have already participated in this camp allow new Apopka families to experience this cutting edge program.

2022 Camp Details

Our camp is held at the Leroy F. Gilliam Training Center (321 E. Cleveland Street, Apopka, FL 32703) from 8:30 AM to 4 PM. Transportation will be provided to the students during the day for field trips in City vehicles. 

Please have your student dropped off at the Training Facility prior to 8:30 AM every morning, so training can begin on time. Students shall be picked up at 4 PM in the afternoon in order for the instructors to prepare for the next day. 

High School Camp One

  • Mandatory Orientation Meeting is Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 6:30 PM at the Leroy F. Gilliam Training Center
  • Monday, July 4, 2022 through Friday, July 8, 2022
  • Monday, July 11, 2022 through Friday, July 15, 2022

High School Camp Two

  • Mandatory Orientation Meeting is Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 6:30 PM at the Leroy F. Gilliam Training Center
  • Monday, July 18, 2022 through Friday, July 22, 2022
  • Monday, July 25, 2022 through Friday, July 29, 2022

Camp Ages

This camp is for ages 14 to 18 year of age. 

  • Must have turned 14 years of age by July 4, 2022 (Birthday: July 4, 2008)
  • Cannot be 19 years of age before July 30, 2022 (Birthday: July 30, 2003)

Cost for Camp

Camp is $125 per participant. This includes two camp t-shirts, water bottles, lunch, and field trip fees. 

Online registration will open at 8 AM on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
